BUKIT HIJAU RECREATIONAL FOREST

Location:

Compartment 11, Gunung Inas Forest Reserve.

45 km from Baling or 42 km from Kulim.

Accessible by road.

Type Of Forest:

Lowland Dipterocarp Forest.

Elevation : 150 – 200m a.s.l.  

Special Features:

The major attraction of this site is the spectacular 5-tier waterfall.

There are several jungle tracks which leads to various locations which are :-

- 9 km to Gunong Inas;

  • 15 km To Gunung Bintang Utara (bordering the State of Perak);
  • 15 km To Bukit Baubak; and
  • 8 km To Bukit Hijau.

This site has won an award in a landscaping competition under the category of agriculture/forestry organized by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism in 1997.

The forest around this area has been classified as Educational and Research Forest and there is also a Virgin Jungle Reserve plot nearby.

A wide variety of flora and fauna of lowland dipterocarp forest such as meranti seraya meranti tembaga, meranti melantai are found here.

Amongst the wildlife seen around here are elephants, tigers, tapirs, barking deer, Grey long-tailed monkeys and squirrels plus a variety of birds and wild-fowls.
