What is Mangrove Forest?

Mangrove Forest is one of the three types of
main forest in Peninsular Malaysia. This type of forest normally found in coastal areas,
river mouth, and islands. It has a unique ecological features because it can survive salty
water. Mangrove forest is very productive and it can contribute to the local
community socio-economy development. Apart form producing timbers, this forest
supports various kinds of wildlife, plants, various kinds of sealife and fishes that
has high commercial value at river mouths and the coastal areas.
The trees found here are limited to Rhizophora
and Bruguiera .
